About Body & Mind Work
Meet Daniel
Daniel passionately devotes his life’s work to uncovering and enhancing people’s latent health, helping them find new solutions to old problems. With over 19 years of diverse experience as a South Shore therapist with training in psychotherapy, counseling, acupressure, massage, craniosacral therapy, and health and wellness consulting, Daniel is extremely versatile in his approach to your specific health concerns. He holds a Masters's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, is a licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Massachusetts, and got his start with bodywork modalities training in Acupressure, under the guidance of a leading innovator in the field of body-mind integration, Iona Teeguarden. Daniel received his Advanced CranioSacral training through the world-renowned Upledger Institute. A natural soccer player, avid athlete, and father of four, Daniel brings his years of intensive sports training, personal development, persistent learning, and successful parenting to bear on his practice; valuing discipline, patience, teamwork, compassion, communication, the importance of keeping both body and mind healthy, and the knowledge that success is all about perspective.
There is a powerful and loud culture of quick fixes telling us that we have to be happy, not struggle or feel deeply. Though it’s tempting to adopt this philosophy, in the long run it leads to dissatisfaction, flatness, addiction and escape behaviors and an increased sense of victimhood. The more rewarding path is one of self-awareness, empowerment, and freedom to master one’s life.
Twenty five years ago when I began integrating bodywork with psychotherapy there were few others to learn from because the fields were largely still divided up and the mind was treated as something that was intricately and inexorably tied into the body itself, with all its sensations and emotions. As neuroscience and modern thinking has evolved since that time, it has become more and more acceptable and encouraged to work with the body in psychotherapy. There is no shortage of ways to help people embody themselves more thoroughly, come to know themselves more deeply and to exercise the inborn capacity to change and evolve. Using the body as a resource for self-control and self-exploration is endlessly helpful.
“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.”
